Huston Patterson Names La Crosse Litho Supply Vendor of the Year

Vendor of the YearDECATUR, ILL. – Huston Patterson Corporation officials recently honored La Crosse Litho Supply, LLC (LLS) as its 2008 Vendor of the Year. The annual award was presented at a recent company luncheon. 

“This decision gets more difficult every year,” noted Huston Patterson President / CEO Thomas W. Kowa during the event at company headquarters in Decatur. “La Crosse Litho always is looking out for our best interest. I admire their innovative thinking and exceptional service. With the economic challenges facing our industry, we need vendors like La Crosse.” 

Huston Patterson management nominates vendors for the award each year based on five criteria: timeliness, service, reliability, cooperation and quality. Cost is not included. Out of 400 Huston Patterson vendors, four were named finalists. Accompanying LLS as finalists were Kodak, NICOAT and Phil Flaugher Electric.

Huston Patterson Expanding Service into Canadian Market

Steve GarceauDECATUR, ILL. – Huston Patterson Corp., Decatur, Ill., has named Steve Garceau as client services manager serving the Canadian market. 

“Despite the troubled economy, Huston Patterson is committed to realizing our vision to be the largest privately owned package printer in North America,” says Huston Patterson Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tonya Kowa-Morelli. “Offering our exceptional craftsmanship and service to the Canadian market is key. Garceau previously served in management positions for local bars and restaurants. He also served our country through the United States Air Force by servicing F-16, A-10, and B-1B aircraft. His education includes an associate’s degree in aircraft maintenance from the Community College of the Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Southern Illinois University. He has traveled and lived in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany and the Middle East, which has provided him a keen understanding of different societies and cultures.

Huston Patterson’s Stephen Frantz Inducted into the LPIA Hall of Fame

LPIA Hall of FameDECATUR, ILL. – The Label Printing Industries of America (LPIA) recently announced that Stephen Frantz, Chief Operating Officer of Huston Patterson is the ninth recipient of the LPIA Hall of Fame. Frantz was inducted during the November 2008 LPIA Fall Management Conference. 

“I am so honored to have been selected to enter LPIA’s Hall of Fame. It has been a privilege to serve on the LPIA board and work along with so many talented people who are truly dedicated to our organization. That makes this milestone very special to me,” Frantz says. 

The LPIA, a chapter of the Printing Industries of America, represents a membership of privately and publicly owned label converting, packaging, and box wrap printers throughout North America producing more than 75% of the glue-applied labels converted in North America for the consumer packaging industry, including food, beverage, household products, and pet products. 

The LPIA Hall of Fame is conferred to that label or packaging executive (printer or supplier) who has reached an unsurpassed level of excellence and achievement in the industry—a leader who has gone far beyond the standard obligations to become a dominant force in shaping the business of label printing.
