Decatur ILL., - Huston Patterson Corp., Decatur, Ill., has recently launched their print industry education program online. The HPx Academy online training program offers webcasts and recorded classes to their clients at no cost. Each part of the curriculum addresses critical areas within the print industry.
Don Ellis, VP of Manufacturing and the program’s main professor has seen a very positive response to their first session. “This is another great value Huston Patterson offers. Our clients, vendors and employees can take advantage of our courses without interrupting their busy schedules. Our clients wanted easier access to our courses and we responded, big time.”
The HPx Academy was originally introduced in 2007 with classes held in the Robert G. Kowa Theatre, a multimedia learning center. The HPx Academy was created to provide continuing education for their workforce. That same year, Huston Patterson was recognized as “Innovator of the Year” by the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC). The in-house training courses were also extended to their clients and vendors.
“We haven’t seen any other printers in our industry offering this type of training program,” says Tonya Kowa-Morelli, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Offering our courses online is a natural progression. Sharing knowledge is a strategic focus that allows us to provide better services and strengthens our partnerships with our clients.”
Available course topics range from general printing principals, pre-press and pressroom to sheeting, finishing, shipping and sustainability. Courses scheduled through 2011 are offered at designated times. For full curriculum information, visit http://www.hustonpatterson.com/academy.
